About the role

About the Position: Serves as a key senior staff advisor and counselor. Responsibilities include oversight of personnel and administrative issues related to all aspects of Navigation Division maintenance in Portland District, including, the licensed and unlicensed staff engaged in the operation of hopper dredges, land and hydrographic surveys, professional project management staff, engineering and technical staffs, budget, supply and clerical and crafts employed in the maintenance shops in support of the dredges. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in overall administrative oversight for a large complex organization to include providing guidance and advising management and employees on a variety of administrative areas such as position management, human resources, performance management, preparing a variety of agency documents, administrative standard operating procedures, timekeeping, travel, and/or budget and finance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
