You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level or GS-12 in the Federal service: Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience applying OPM classification standards, FES, FWS and narrative standards to issue authoritative title, series, grade, and pay plan determinations for positions presenting novel factor-level application challenges, cross-occupational group series questions, or mixed pay system adjudications. Experience in resolving complex and ambiguous classification and position management issues - including disputed grade-level determinations, accretion-of-duties questions, and requests for reconsiderations. Experience analyzing organizational structures, reporting relationships, and position architectures arising from reorganizations, mission realignments, or workforce restructuring actions to render authoritative determinations on supervisory coverage, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption status, and the classification implications of proposed organizational design changes prior to implementation. Experience advising senior leadership and human resources management officials on the classification and position management implications of proposed personnel actions, organizational changes, and workforce planning decisions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
